Nearly nine months after the last Official Version 2.7.7 is now finally: Scala 8.2 has been released! In addition to numerous bug fixes, there are many new features:
- more lightweight, performant actuators
- support Continuations
- improved XML library
- Revised of collections library and array implementation
- Named and default arguments
- package objects
- better support for (nested) Java annotations
- significantly improved Scala interpreter shell ( REPL) Input Others with Tab Completion
- including
Two weeks ago, the Scala web framework released Lift 2.0 . Apart of the already very good Ajax - and Comet support there, the following changes:
- NoSQL support (for MongoDB and CouchDB )
- -performance JSON support with its own DSL
- REST support
- integration of JTA, including LDAP
- the Simple build tool
sbt
supported - and the lift-programming has been simplified overall.
Finally, a bit of advertising in their own right: Who wants to learn more about Scala, may like to participate in my next workshop Scala at the end of November in Cologne!
